Sue Drummond and her beloved Maltese, Bibi, were enjoying a breezy afternoon on Melbourne’s Brighton Pier. But what started as a carefree stroll quickly spiraled into a nightmare. 

A sudden gust, roaring at nearly 60 mph, ripped through the pier. Little Bibi, too light to withstand the force, was swept off her paws and flung into the churning sea.

Sue stood frozen, heart pounding, watching her dog struggle against the relentless waves.
