A disturbing call was made to the rescue team reporting a sick dog lying and crying on the roadside. The dog was unconscious when the rescue team arrived, probably worn out from enduring the rain and flooding. Acting quickly, they loaded the dog into the ambulance and hurried to the hospital.

The dog is saved.

The dog unexpectedly woke up during the journey but was breathing very weakly. To succeed in saving its life, the rescue team knew they had to act swiftly. The veterinarian team started administering fluids, pain meds, and antibiotics to the dog straightaway after the rescue team arrived at the hospital. The dog was also placed on a ventilator to help with breathing.

The veterinarian team uncovered a severe wound on the dog. Because it had remained untreated, the wound had become infested with bacteria. The wound was treated and the dog was given time to recover from all the medicine that had been administered. The dog was also given food and it ate hungrily. This filled the veterinarian team with hope that it would recover.

Determined, the veterinarian team worked hard to nurse the dog to full recovery over the next few days. One rescue team member, Jenna, frequented the hospital to see how the dog was progressing. The dog’s slow improvements, good response to treatment, and increasing strength relieved her.

The dog is ready to go home.

The dog received intensive care for one week. After that, it was finally ready to go home. Jenna took it home and named it Lucky because its survival was extraordinary. Lucky swiftly won over Jenna’s family and formed a strong bond with Jenna.

Jenna was grateful to have been part of Lucky’s rescue team to save his life. Lucky couldn’t have been given a second chance if the rescue team had not thought and acted quickly. This event is a reminder of why it’s important to rescue animals that need help and the joy they can bring if given another chance at life.
