Heroic Dog Saves 10-Year-Old Girl Lost in Freezing Temperatures by Keeping Her Warm.

In a heartwarming display of love and devotion, a stray heroic dog has become the protector of a ten-year-old girl lost in freezing temperatures. The young girl,  faced with the threat of getting hypothermia, was able to survive thanks to her canine friend, who thought quickly. This incredible story shows how these four-legged companions protect those they love.

The disappearance of Vika.

Vika Z is a ten-year-old girl who lives in Sakhalin, a Russian island. She enjoys the company of stray dogs. 

She was heading home after a school day when the challenging weather disoriented her. The snowfall was so heavy that it was two feet high, and the drifts blocked the first floors of buildings. The weather eventually became so bad that one could barely see what was ahead.

Vika disappeared for 18 hours. At that time, the temperatures were -11 degrees Celsius. Her family thought she might not make it through the cold night. Together with the help of neighbors, Vika’s family braved the harsh weather to bring their daughter back home.

Vika’s search and rescue.

Vika’s family went through the streets looking and calling her while questioning other people about her whereabouts. A witness came forward and stated that she saw her in the company of a stray dog near one of the apartments in the area.

The rescue team used that information to trace Vika, and they went to her rescue about half a mile from her family home. She was cuddled with the dog under a balcony on a mattress provided by pet owners in a bid to keep warm. Even though they were outside, they were shielded from the snow.

The dog vanished from sight once Vika was safe. The rescue mission was a success, but she still needed medical care since she suffered a minor frostbite.

Anatoly Ivanov, one of the rescuers, explained that finding Vika safe and sound in the harsh weather was a marvel. They had searched through the night but were unlucky. It was so cold that their hands became numb, even though they wore mittens.

Vika reunites with her family.

Vika got another chance to see her mother, Tatyana when the rescue team took her to the hospital. Fortunately, the hospital discharged her after they took care of her minor injuries. 

All this happened because of a heroic dog who was quick to think. Where the stray dog went is unknown, but Vika’s family hopes to meet him again to give him a special thank you for his bravery.

The stray dog protecting Vika reminds us how we share a deep connection with our canine friends and how they can become our protectors in ways we may never understand. Vika survived through the night with minor injuries, thanks to the dog, and they will both remember this heroic act that kept her alive.
